EU-CIS Gender Watch Reports Launch

IGPN did cooperate on EU-CIS Gender Watch project prepared by Network of East-West Women, aiming at monitoring the funds from Official Development Aid (ODA) and European Neighborhood Policy Instrument (ENPI). IGPN participated as local partner in its reporting part (prepared the report from Czech Republic on gender equality in development aid).

In the end of June 2008, during the official launch of the EU-CIS Gender Watch reports in Brussels, IGPN presented its findings in the countries of the new EU Member States and in Recipinet countries. Attention was brought to the lack of gender aspect within the ODA and ENPI despite the long-term EU promotion of the equal opportunities principle. The launch of EU-CIS Gender Watch Reports was accompanied by many other events – NGOs Strategy meeting, Press Conference, bilateral meetings and so on. Various EU officials representatives and UN officials expressed their interest in the reports and future updates of our work on the issue. IGPN will continue in working on gender in development cooperation topic because we think that gender aspect should be placed among priorities in the EU Development Agenda.
