- Conducting policy research and analyses to ensure monitoring and accountability of the major agreements in the area of women’s rights and gender equality.
- Contribution to national, regional, and global public policies on gender equality.
- Promotion of effective and responsible gender mainstreaming strategies.
- Strategic engagement of multiple stakeholders in advancement of women’s rights (including civil society organizations and networks, governments, international agencies, donors, etc.).

Increasing women’s political representationIGPN started to work on the initiative towards increasing political representation of women regionally – advocating the women’s rights on political participation at national and regional level.
In January 2009 IGPN prepared training for members on political participation of women. The training program was developed in cooperation with International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance from Sweden and with Gender Links from South Africa.
During the training we were mapping the situation regarding political participation in IGPN region. We prepared the list of IGPN countries with the basic data and we identified challenges and opportunities.
We were also deepening the knowledge among IGPN members on methods for increasing political participation of women. Some of IGPN members shared their good or bad examples.
We started to create guidelines of good practices how to increase political participation of women and also we started the preparation of the development of database of women who are able and willing to enter the politics.
We also held brainstorming on how to effectively involve IGPN in global discussions on political participation.
